Fort l'Écluse

The Fort the Lock: a big(great) strengthened fortification. Built in hillside, the strong inferior was endowed in the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries of a surrounding wall(speaker) reinforced by a round tower (the Door of France) and of a false brays (place(square) of weapon) who leads(drives) to another access (the Door of Geneva). The terrace, located at the top of the Door of France, offers an exceptional point of view on the valley of the Rhône. The buildings(ships) of Strong superior(higher education) were established in the middle of the XIXth century, high to protect the fort of an attack by the mountain and to increase its possibilities of housing. 1165 walking(steps) cut in the rock train(form) an underground staircase which connects(binds) both forts. In its conservation area, Fort the Lock offers the vestiges of several centuries of military architecture today. He(It) is located in Longeray, Road of Geneva on the municipality of Léaz.
