Museum of the Porcelain of Snake
Couleuvre put porcelain back in the spotlight by opening in May 1999 a museum dedicated to this art. Housed in a fourteenth century house called "Charles IX" which has undergone major restoration work, it welcomes visitors on three levels.
Is it not said that in 1565 King Charles IX and Catherine de Medici would have stopped here before returning to the abbey of Saint-Menoux? Legend has it that Joan of Arc herself passed through these places.
The exhibits come from the Manufacture (formerly the Factory) located at the exit of the village direction Lurcy-Lévis. The characteristic of Snake porcelain is the richness of its decor. It is a porcelain for the pleasure of the eyes, a luxury porcelain that is exported. Certainly, there will be production of utility parts: coffee services, dishes, ...
The tour is on three levels. On the first floor, you can admire beautiful pieces of art, the second floor traces the different stages of manufacture of an object, while on the third floor, you can admire the structure in the shape of a boat.
