The Croix-Rousse Hospital as you have never seen!
"General hospital offering a comprehensive care offer (24/7 emergency reception) in the heart of the city of Lyon. In March 1852, the annexation of the communes of Croix-Rousse, Guillotière, and from Vaise to the city of Lyon forced the prefect of the Rhône Claude Marius Vaïsse to consider the construction of a new hospital in order to meet the needs of a growing population and to "relieve" the two hospitals of the peninsula: Charity and the Hotel-Dieu. He chose to establish it in the working-class district of the Croix-Rousse, strongly marked by a sometimes violent social history (revolt of «canuts»), in order to respond to the poverty and misery of a population often hit by typhoid epidemics, smallpox and tuberculosis. The Croix-Rousse hospital was inaugurated on December 7, 1861."
