Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Rose

Romanesque chapel of the 12th century, one of the oldest buildings in Montélimar. It is located on the edge of the ancient village of Montélimar, north of the Saint-Martin Gate, and built on a ground-floor raised in relation to the avenue, former National 7, on the route of the ancient Roman road of Agrippa. It consists of a single vaulted nave in cradle with its semi-circular apse. The chapel, deteriorated during the wars of religion in the sixteenth century, was rebuilt and enlarged in the seventeenth century with a facade in the baroque style. Sold as a national property during the Revolution, restored to the Catholic cult at the beginning of the 19th century, it has been completely restored recently. The chapel is open every Sunday and holidays for Catholic worship.
