Exhibition and workshop of patchwork.
The patchwork technique is common to many civilizations: it consists of recovering the remains of fabrics from various works and assembling them to make decorative objects or bedding elements. This assemblage is designed and composed to be a beautiful object. Some will be true works of art. We found very old patchworks, but we are witnessing a «renaissance» of the patchwork in Great Britain at the end of the eighteenth century and, in the United States during the nineteenth, the Amish women will make it a traditional activity. It is essentially women who engage in this activity, often gathered in association, they can enrich each other’s successes and failures. They can engage in a collective work and thus realize a large piece. It is the association «Eclats» that will exhibit, in the Maison Moïse for the European Heritage Days. Among the works exhibited is a cover offered to the Friends of the Commanderie by this association
