The town of Thiers has three churches that once formed a parish. The major church Saint-Genès, in the center of the city, founded by the lord of Thiers, originally Romanesque style, was enlarged by the addition of side chapels from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century. Over the centuries, it underwent many transformations, and its history was sometimes turbulent.
