Château de Vieillevie - Saint-Sulpice
Saint-Sulpice,12320 Senergues
The Castle of Vieillevie, which was built from the year 1000, dates mainly from the 13th and 16th centuries. It is located in the Lot valley between the south of the department of Cantal, and the north of Aveyron, very close to Conques (whose abbey church is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site). Its exceptionally preserved architecture includes underground passages, remains of a pre-Romanesque church, passageways of defenses, cruciform arches, and wooden tusks. The quality of its carved decoration in the large Renaissance rooms is notable. Their monumental chimneys date, for some of the thirteenth, and are among the oldest in France.
