Free visit of the church of Saint Christol d'Albion
Its interior consists of a nave with 3 bays, extended by a semi-circular apse raising a semi-dome vault. The sanctuary, remarkably decorated, houses a real repertoire of plants and animals. It is unique in Provence because it is very homogeneous, ordered down to the detail: symmetries and faces-to-faces, harmonization between animal and vegetable decoration, and does not break the balance that characterizes Romanesque art. This carved bestiary makes the church of Saint Christol one of the main testimonies of Romanesque art in Haute Provence. A double consecration protects the village church: Notre Dame, universal mother, and Saint Christophe, specialist of travelers. It also owes its development to the Benedictines of the Abbey of Saint André de Villeneuve-lez-Avignon.
