If there is one area in which sustainability and heritage are associated, and that is conservation and restoration, one might even think that sustainability is somehow embedded in the DNA of the restoration of works of art. That has not always been the case. Through the example of a few works from the collection of the Petit Palais Museum, discover the different approaches to restoration over time and how today we reconcile restoration and sustainability.

Housed in the former palace of the archbishops whose construction begins at the beginning of the fourteenth century. during the installation of the papacy in Avignon, the museum of the Petit Palais enjoys a prestigious location on the square of the Palace of the Popes, at the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Opened since 1976, the museum presents collections from two distinct origins: the collection of Italian paintings collected by the Marquis Campana in the first half of the 19th century, constituting an exceptional repository of the Louvre Museum, and a set of Provençal paintings and sculptures from the Middle Ages deposited by the Calvet Foundation.
