Opened in May 2000, the CESAME museum is located within the hospital in Ste Gemmes/Loire. Organized around 9 exhibition rooms, decorated with objects and furniture from various departments of the hospital, this museum has a very extensive collection of photos illustrating the life of the institution. A wooden model made by patients in 1887 gives a vision of the evolution of the asylum at the end of the 19th century. This model was awarded at the World’s Fair in 1889 and is the centrepiece of this museum. This museum retraces the evolution of an institution more than 160 years old by presenting the history of the site, the successive architectural transformations but especially the evolution of the care provided.
