Guided tour of the church of Saint Martin in Thorigné d'Anjou
Your passionate guide will tell you the history of this church.
St Martin’s Church is one of the oldest churches in the region. Several campaigns of work were carried out in the 11th, 12th, 16th and 18th centuries. The choir is covered with a beautiful Gothic Plantagenet vault. It is dressed in a large curved altarpiece dating - for its central part - from 1769 and representing the Resurrection of Christ. It is a replica of a painting painted in 1702 by Antoine Coypel, at the request of the Grand Dauphin (future Louis XV) for the chapel of the castle of Meudon.
Five stained glass windows by Father Kim In Joong, a Dominican South Korean father, of modern inspiration, give a beautiful light to this church inscribed in historical monuments in 1969.
