  • Templar preceptory of Brain-sur-l'Authion.
  • Feedback is provided on a regular basis.
  • Born at the time of the Crusades, the two religious orders, the Knights of the Temple (or Templars) and the Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem (or Hospitallers), founded preceptories in the 12th and 13th centuries throughout Europe.
  • These monks-knights in the East, become monks-farmers in the West. The six Angevine preceptories are religious and agricultural establishments, placed under the authority of a commander and a small community of brothers who make many farmers work and practice hospitality.
  • Located in the center of a land estate, the preceptory of Brain manages live its own property, but also farms that they outsource (the members).
  • The dîmière barn of the hotel, a wealth of our heritage, testifies to this presence until the Revolution when it was bought by the future mayor of Angers Giraud, then by two families brainoises Beaumont and Normandière and finally by the commune in 1983
  • As for the Andard Hospital, a simple farmhouse whose place is always present, it was under the preceptory St Blaise d'Angers
