Once there were eight 'painted cafés' in the Mayenne, but this is the only one that still exists. The restaurant is decorated with ten paintings signed by the artist Ezined in 1914.
This house was acquired by the Canadian artist Jill Culiner in 1996 and has been kept in its former style. Culiner's satirical work fills the rooms, as do photos with the (real or fake?) stories of former guests.

This old village inn was once one of the "painted" cafes of Mayenne. The ten paintings in the restaurant room were executed in 1914 by the artist Denis (Enid) on linen sheets. In 1996, the building was acquired by Canadian artist and writer Jill Culiner who, leaving the hotel in the state of the 1950s, installed there his works a satirical and critical work on human behavior - and endowed the rooms with photos and stories (real or fictitious) of former hotel guests.
