From its acquisition in 1997, and its inscription on the additional list of Historic Monuments in 1999, our objective was to restore it as it functioned during the nineteenth century. This deep restoration, identical and without additions of techniques or equipment of the 21st century, was therefore carried out under the control of the architects of the Buildings of France, and by quality professionals (stonecutters and molinologist framing), since 2003: walls, vault, frames, hucherolle, wings, interior mechanism, etc.
Now, its lofty allure and the bucolic movement of the wings express in its rediscovered beauty, all the harmony born of the marriage of the tuffeau, the slate of Trélazé and the brightness of this beautiful region of Anjou!!
Equipped with two pairs of grinding wheels, it again produces complete flour (milling) since the beginning of 2008 for our greatest joy!! This is done in conjunction with a gradual “run-in” of its renovated gears.
Its high height (17 m between the ground and the roof of the hucherolle), allows it to «catch» the wind as much as necessary. The particular ingenuity of its arrangements and its functioning thus allows the miller to be able to ensure, alone, a production, while «piloting» the operation of this beautiful very specific mechanics of the nineteenth century.
Member of the Association pour la sauvegarde des Moulins d'Anjou . Gérard Dubaux became passionate about windmills, going as far as acquiring the Moulin de GASTE in 1997.
