Eugene Tessier de la Motte, deputy and mayor of Les Rosiers from 1830 to 1870, gave a new impetus to the town. This ambitious man has the business sense; he is responsible, among other things, for the project of building bridges, the development of the Roses in agricultural region with the development of the meadows in ploughed land, the creation of channels of communication worthy of the name, the construction of two schools and the free instruction or a new cemetery and a village refocused with the mail. Among all these works: the construction of a new town hall. In fact, as early as 1824, the mayor, Pierre Robert, spoke of “the acquisition of a house in which the secretary could be housed and the common house established”. In 1830, we can still see that "the town hall of Les Rosiers has no common house...". We then decided to sell 15 hectares of communal property to buy the house of Sieur Merlette located on the banks of the Loire and transform it into a town hall, as well as the house of the heirs Fardeau for the sum of 4,000 francs so that we could also build a guard corps, a shed for the fire pump and a place for the field guard. Work began in 1875. A year later, plans, specifications and specifications were ready. Lelard-Taugourdeau was chosen. In February 1877, the old town hall was demolished. At the end of 1877, when work had barely begun, Tessier de la Motte died at the age of 78. On January 21, 1878, Mr.Boutin-Desvignes was elected mayor and supervised the work. After 18 months of delay and budget overruns, the town hall was finally completed in August 1880. This ambitious project has strained the finances of the municipality; we note at the municipal council of 21 November 1900 that the loan is still to be repaid. Between 2019 and 2020, major rehabilitation work was carried out, for a total amount of €1,047,200.00. As history repeats, elected officials were faced with budget overruns and several months of delay.
