À propos du lieu

With the development of rail transport, Dax experienced a first thermal golden age at the end of the 19th century and, just freed from its walls, an important urban development. The wooden arenas are no longer suitable to accommodate an increasing number of spectators, eager to attend the bullfighting races. The new bullring was built by architect Albert Pomade in 1913 on a raised and landscaped site: Théodore-Denis Park.
Built of reinforced concrete, they can accommodate 5500 seats. They were enlarged by raising the stands in 1932 to accommodate 8000 seats.
The architect’s bias is that of the Andalusian arenas. They were inscribed as historical monuments in 2013.
