Come and visit this living witness of the social struggles of the region inaugurated on June 7, 1936!

Admire its art deco style, its stained glass windows and frescoes and enjoy an exhibition of documents and archival objects.
People’s House, People’s Palace... listed as historical monuments, open to all, it remains alive, a place of meetings and exchanges, a place of solidarity and culture.
Come and discover it from the ground floor to the third floor: offices, furniture, posters... it remained in "its juice" but always active and open to the world.
The guided tour is accompanied by an exhibition on the 80 years of the life of the People’s House and a presentation of documents and archival objects.
And...sale/sale of documents related to social history.

Since 1982, the People’s House illustrates the importance of trade unions in the political and social life of Limoges where the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) was born in 1895\. Inaugurated on June 7, 1936, the day of the Matignon accords, this building is the very example of the architecture of the interwar period, the Art Deco style and the Limougeaud know-how. In March 2002, the building received the label "heritage of the twentieth century" to emphasize its architectural interest, and its interior decorations (stained glass, fresco, mosaics), which recall its trade union function and pay tribute to workers are registered as historic monuments since September 2014\. Remaining in its Art Deco setting since 1936, now protected by cultural services, the Maison du Peuple has retained its function there.
