In turn, it is the property of the families of Méredieu (16th-18th centuries), Malet de la Farge (first half of the 19th century) and Nerveux (1861-1968) and is distinguished by a ceiling on the first landing decorated with bas-reliefs sculpted with Renaissance motifs. The latter is inscribed, like the staircase, as an additional inventory of historical monuments (1970). The building, emblematic of the history of Périgueux, has a hanging garden and a large reception room. It also houses cellars of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries that have kept the trace of a Templar cross. Not being the only Méredieu home in the city, it was home to the Méredieu family of Ambois, including two mayors. One of them was Eymeric, former Grey Musketeer of King Louis XV, who presided over the city’s destinies for more than 20 years.
