Our cultural heritage consists of heritage and matrimoine. Come and discover this exhibition featuring “Emma, Gerta, Alice and the others…”.

“Matrimoine” is a word that was used in the past, especially in the Middle Ages, to indicate maternal inheritance, and that disappeared during the Revolution, the word “heritage” having absorbed it to mean the totality of cultural heritage. To make visible the women artists of the past is to rehabilitate their memory and allow the younger generations to grow with other models of identification.
The works of Emma Reyes (1919-2003), a Colombian painter, as well as the career of several women artists will be presented in the Fine Arts halls. Musical interventions and readings will take place in the collections to evoke musicians, autrices, artists…
In partnership with Femmes Solidaires.

First museum created in Dordogne in the XIXth century, Maap proposes you an amazing journey in the universe of artistic creation, of Périgord in China via Africa and Oceania (7th collection of France). Prehistoric works (4th collection of France), ancient and medieval reflect the wealth of the history(story) of Périgord. Section Fine Arts, sculptors and French painters are placed next to Italian, Flemish and Spanish artists. Local earthenwares are next(go alongside) to chinas of China and of Japan. The XIXth and XXth room gives a good place to the local artists, sculptors and landscapists. The route(course) ends in the exceptional work sculpted by Etienne Hajdu, unique(only) in France.
