The private site of the Moulin de Porchères, listed as Historical Monuments, is a haven of know-how. During a playful survey you can meet the different craftsmen, engineers or stonemasons who are exceptionally present on the site and ready to share their secrets and techniques. The guides will introduce you to the mechanics of the flour mill while a baker will make country breads throughout the weekend.
A 19th-century cut-stone mill, the Moulin de Porchères was built by Charles Frouin in 1847. He produced flour using grinding wheels until it was modernized by the Barrau family in 1937. The installation of machinery allowed a more industrial production and the turbines ensured the electrification of the mill. Milling activity continued until 2002. With the acquisition of the site by Mr Norbert Fradin in 2006, and the inscription under the title of Historical Monuments, the association Vivre avec le Moulin de Porchères ensures the tourist management.

Built between 1847 and 1850, the Moulin de Porchères is the flagship of industrial heritage. Transformed into a flour mill in 1937, it possesses intact all the equipment needed to transform a grain of wheat into flour. Cylinder machine, cruise control, bucket wetter are to be discovered in a magnificent stone building emblematic of the region. The mill is open from 26 March to 13 November for guided tours, workshops or bread-making demonstrations for the cultural part and until 15 October for the rental of waterbikes and barbecue boats.
