Jödel Grasset-Saruwatari, musician and storyteller, offers you a journey back in time to discover the lutes and other instruments of medieval and renaissance times. His intervention will be made in three stages:

  • 14.30-15.15: early music concert with lutes and percussions.
  • 15:30-16:15: «La vie artistique à la cour de Nérac»: family animation with music, dance and musical initiation.
  • 4.30pm-5.15pm: «Les Contes du Plectre»: concert with psalteries, qitara, blowtorches and sound box.
    THE FAIRY TALES
The 13th century troubadour Raimon d'Avinhon fell into a time tunnel that accidentally brought him to our time. To survive in the 21st century, he continues to play his instruments that miraculously followed him while telling his life story. But Raimon is a resourceful being who will adapt easily using his instruments.
The stories draw their inspiration directly from the writings of the Troubadours of the 12th and 13th centuries, especially those left by Raimon d'Avinhon, «Sirvens sui avutz et arlots...», in which the poet recounts all the trades he had to perform before becoming Troubadour.
A musical walk through medieval anecdotes.
Pretext for the presentation of the great medieval archives:
Carmina Burana, Italian Trecento, Royal Stamps, Cantigas de Santa Maria, Llibre Vermell de Montserrat ...
Instruments used: XVe lute, qitara, ûd, psaltérion, nable, blowtorch, percussion.
    ARTISTIC LIFE AT NERAC COURT
Playful learning workshop for children of ancient Occitan songs and dances (carols, pavanes, branles…) medieval and rebirth to the sound of ancient instruments.
Instrumentarium: lutes, qitara, psalters, blowtorch, percussion, auselet, sound box.

The castle of Nérac was built between the 15th and 16th century by the lords of Albret. This royal residence is known for having hosted the courts of Marguerite d'Angoulême, Jeanne d'Albret and Henri de Navarre, future Henri IV. The building is of Louis XII style, thus forming a transition between Gothic art and the first Renaissance.
The castle was dismantled during the French Revolution. Only the north wing was preserved. It was classified as a Historical Monument in 1862\. It now houses the Henri IV Castle-Museum.
