La maison des Preux: visit of a medieval house
The owner of the place will be a storyteller to tell you the evolutions that marked the history of the monument, today known as the Castle of Belvès: its strategic position in the city, the architectural transformations after the Hundred Years War, its appearance as a noble house and, finally, its embellishment thanks to the painted decorations made by painters of great talent.
In the skin of a 16th-century man, the spectator will face the faces of the characters of the first scene who march on horseback, while a garden with delicate trees invite meditation. His wonder will only be greater when he enters the last room, where he will be plunged into the heart of the cavalcade of the nine illustrious knights who inspired the kings of France and the nobility: the Nine Preux. Finally, a few steps in the garden will allow visitors to appreciate the whole monument and the breathtaking view of the Nauze valley.
