  • NADJA, THE PAINTING BOOK
    Exhibition Jeunesse & BD Bibliothèque Mériadeck From Wednesday 7 September to Sunday 2 October 2022 Tuesday 6 September at 6:30 pm - Inauguration of the exhibition in the presence of Nadja. Thursday 15 September 18h - Guided tour of the exhibition with Nadja.
    Nadja painted throughout her life. Daughter of Olga Lecaye, sister of Grégoire Solotareff, this great author, painter and illustrator operated with Chien Bleu at the École des Loisirs, a revolution in the world of children’s literature in 1989. Although her children’s albums are well known to the public, Nadja has also immersed herself in the creation of comics, somewhere between the black novel and autofiction.
    The exhibition explores many techniques, from charcoal to oil painting, gouache and ceramics. This retrospective retraces, for the first time in France, all the creation of a major artist who loves to tell stories to both small and large readers.

  • NICOLE CLAVELOUX AND FREE IMAGES
    BD & Jeunesse Exhibition Cornelius Edition From Friday 16 September to Sunday 25 September 2022
    With a generation of illustrators who took part in the great revival of children’s books in the mid-1960s, Nicole Claveloux has created images and stories that do not forbid anything and have revolutionized the French edition.
    This exhibition in the church of Saint-Rémi will give pride of place to his comics and other short stories, reissued by the Bordeaux editions Cornélius.
    She will also present the great creative ferment of the authors and authors of the time, through the monograph of Loïc Boyer Free images: Drawing for children between 1966 and 1986, published by MeMo. A celebration of graphic diversity and narrative freedom.

    Visual artist and illustrator, Camille Lavaud Benito draws her effervescent inspiration from images, words, photography and even music. In this exhibition she presents posters, sets, boards, trailer and protean material to make exist The ball of silencers, which will be the sequel to Life underground.

    Crazy about music and drawing, Luz quickly established himself as a major signature of Charlie Hebdo. From this period, he recounts the beginnings (Indélébiles, 2018) and the aftermath of the tragic conclusion (Catharsis, 2015) in albums published by Futuropolis. O you human brothers (2016), Alive (2017) or Hollywood liar (2019) complete the portrait of the powerful cultural worlds he loves. By immersing himself in the literary and musical world of Vernon Subutex, Luz realizes the convergence of his passions in comics.

  • BISCOTO ON THE BUS
    The Biscoto editions take over the Garage Moderne bus for an exhibition of their catalogue Le Garage Moderne Exhibition from 16 to 24 September 2022
    Biscoto is a publishing house based in Angoulême and broadcast in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. Since 2013, it publishes an independent monthly children’s comic book journal, which pays particular attention to anti-sexistent principles and socio-cultural discrimination. In 2017, at the Angoulême Festival, Biscoto received the Alternative Comic Book Award.

    Illustrator from Bordeaux, Sylvain Havec graduated from Gobelins in arts and graphic design. His prolific work often refers to popular culture in a mixture of darkness, pessimism and black humour. On paper or on the walls, its line is precise and its hypnotic motifs.

  • THE PRICES OF SCRIBBLED BOOKSELLERS
    A reading committee made up of 6 specialized booksellers in France and Belgium selects the 10 most creative and original comics and 10 youth albums published between June 1, 2021 and May 30, 2022. Among this selection, the network of independent booksellers in Nouvelle-Aquitaine will vote for the two winners. These prizes, with an endowment of 1000 euros, will be announced and awarded during the festival, on Saturday 17 September 2022 at 18h.
  • PARTNER AWARDS SCRIBBLED
    The Bibliothèques de Bordeaux and the Festival Gribouillis reward a cartoon published in 2021. The 5 titles selected this year by readers and librarians were unveiled in February. All readers of the network are invited to vote for their favourite titles here:
  • A PRIZE BD YOUTH OF SCHOOLS
    The booksellers of the Gribouillis committee select 5 children’s comics that the CM1 and CM2 students of schools Anne Sylvestre, Achard, Sempé and the 6th of Blanqui College, will read so that they can debate them. Presentation of the Prix des Petits Bacalanais during the festival. Gribouillis, in partnership with the schools of the Bacalan district, the association Mascarets - Vibre Livre.

The Garage Moderne is an association installed since 2000 in a former workshop of mechanical constructions, real industrial cathedral. It brings to life the memory of Bacalan by mixing culture and sludge.
