À propos du lieu

Bastide de Bruges
Place Gaston-Phoebus, 64800 Bruges

At the foot of the Pyrenees, on the Pilgrim’s Way to Compostela, the village of Bruges was built in 1357 by Bertrand de Pujols (viscount of Foix-Béarn and lieutenant-general of Gaston III dit Gaston Fébus). Its name comes from the Flemish city where Gaston Fébus stayed the same year. The sober and homogeneous architecture reflects that of the houses of the Pyrenean piedmont, a square square with covered passages, decorative lintels carved in stone testify to the prosperity of the village in the nineteenth century. The portal of the church of the sixteenth century, is registered in the Historical Monuments. Remains of the fourteenth century: the bell tower and the staircase tower. It has 3 green spaces, the "Padöens", which used to be used for grazing pigs, a private mill of the sixteenth century.
