Guided tours of the underground quarries of La Maladrerie - Caen

The visit proposes a discovery of the underground quarries of Maladrerie and more precisely of the large chambers of extraction of the stone of Caen exploited in the 19th century and reopened for the construction of the Memorial in the 1980s. You will discover the formation of limestone, the techniques of exploitation, the consolidation of quarries...
Walking on a marked and lighted path through the large extraction chambers. Comments provided by the guides of the Tourist Office of Caen la Mer and the Heritage Development Mission of the City of Caen.
