Cigarette camps were transit camps for GI’s waiting to return home. At Gonfreville l'Orcher, the "Philip Morris" camp saw more than a million men pass through between 1945 and 1947, before serving as an emergency city for 35 years for Havens deprived of housing following the bombing of 1944. During your "express" visit, you will relive the American presence in the region of Le Havre and you will meet former inhabitants of these temporary cities who will evoke their daily life in these homes without comfort.
