The Cour du Foyer, the cradle of copper in Villedieu, forms an architectural complex classified as a Historical Monument, the oldest elements of which date back to the 12th century, when a fireplace was established where each craftsman melted his copper. The Courtyard of the Foyer has housed the Poeslerie Museum since 1969 and the Maison de la Dentellière since 1985.
The Poeslerie Museum has recreated an old workshop of the seventeenth century that will immerse you in the world of frying pans and dinandiers. Upstairs, you will admire an interior of poeslier merchant, as well as an exhibition of rare copper and brass pieces (15th to 20th century). This year, the museum hosts the exhibition "Collection nuggets: 10 years of donations to the museums of Villedieu".
Always Courtyard of the Foyer, the Maison de la Dentellière allows visitors to discover the skill and precision of the gestures of the lace makers. Techniques and know-how are here impressive.
To better understand this particular art and its dense history in Villedieu, a demonstration of bobbin lace is offered.
