The museum celebrates the «clan» Monet through a selection of his most illustrious painters: Claude Monet, Blanche Hoschedé-Monet, Théodore Earl and James Butler. The master of impressionism who influenced a generation of avant-garde painters found a special echo among his relatives. His daughter-in-law, Blanche, Théodore Earl Butler, married successively to two of his daughters-in-law Marthe and Suzanne, and James Butler, Butler’s younger son, embraced a pictorial vocation. If the saga will address family relations and turpitudes, the artistic intention of the exhibition lies in the relationship between its four personalities. Gathered under the influence of the patriarch, these artists have developed a unique style that characterizes them. Thus, the works presented are matched, allowing to highlight, at the same time, the links that unite them and the differences of treatment, both in form and content.
