Free visit of a weathervane making workshop
A stone’s throw from Longny au Perche, between gentle valleys and quiet villages, Thierry Soret opens the doors of his workshop at the Mage.
Inside the copper weathervanes made in a traditional and artisanal way. Scenes of life where we certainly find the «traditional» cock, but also different scenes representing human activities, trades of yesteryear like the ploughman, the sower, the reaper, the saddler, the charron, the watchmaker, the potter, the cabinetmaker...
Each piece is unique, engraved and numbered. The artisan willingly makes a history of weather vanes through time and gives explanations on the weather reading of a weather vane according to its orientation towards the prevailing wind.
As part of the Heritage Days, the artisan opens the doors of his workshop to the public ... an opportunity to discover a little-known craft. 3 days to take the time to come to meet an exceptional know-how.
