Guided tour of the church of Saint Barthélemy, and discovery of the large restored Renaissance glass roof
The large Renaissance canopy from the Notre-Dame de Mortagne church was reinstalled in the gable of the Saint-Barthélemy du Pin-la-Garenne church in 1841. Damaged in 1944, it was closed by white glass until 1972. The network containing details of the Renaissance (including a portrait of Marguerite de Lorraine) was then partially restored by the Atelier Avice, du Mans. In June 2022, the windows, the lancets, still in white glass, in very bad condition, were restored thanks to the action of the association "le Pin-la-Garenne, patrimoine et nature" in collaboration with the municipality, with the support of the Heritage Foundation, the Orne Department, the Orne Patrons Club and many donors. The design of the lancets made on the theme of the four elements, was composed by Catherine Regnault, artist-painter at Pin-la-Garenne, brought to light by Virginie Berthier, master glassmaker at Nogent-le-Rotrou, all offering, at sunset, a beautiful lighting inside the church. Inside, exhibition panels evoke the history of the village with its unsuspected wealth.
