Behind the tarpaulins...
Archaeological secrets and restoration project
From the floors to the ceilings, through the walls, the medieval fortress, property of the Eure Department**, gets a makeover!**
On the occasion of JEP 2022, Gilles Deshayes will present to the public the restoration project, but also the current and future archaeological work as well as the construction study in progress. From the lower courtyard at the foot of the scaffolding, the outdoor conference will look like guided tours all around the castle under construction.
For a year, the former seigneurial home has been home to several teams of workers for important conservation work. Upstream, the Departmental Archaeological Mission of the Eure carried out an inventory of graffiti and a photogrammetric survey of the building. The latter currently monitors the work and archaeological studies of the building during the various phases of the construction site. This weekend, come meet the archaeologists of the MADE and discover the progress of this unusual project.
