Bourg Les Anses d'Arlet
Building inscribed on the List of Historical Monuments. In January 1762, the Bourg des Anses d'Arlet was the scene of a bitter battle between the French and the English for the conquest of Martinique. The defeated English burned down the Bourg and the Church before capitulating. A few years later, a notable of the Commune named Henri Larcher had this building originally dedicated to Saint Antoine de Padoue rebuilt. From then on, this church bears the name of its benefactor: Saint Henri Church. Several times, it had to suffer damage because of cyclones. This and in 2009, after the damage of Cyclone Dean, it was rebuilt according to the original architecture....
