Guided Tour of the Artists' Retirement House

Labeled Remarkable Heritage of the Ile de France Region in 2022, the Maison de Retraite des Artistes is a unique building of its kind. Its main Art Nouveau building was the work of the architect René Binet (creator of the Monumental Gate of the 1900 Universal Exhibition) in collaboration with Louis-Edouard Fournier (Fresco of the Grand Palais). During a one-hour guided tour of its 4-hectare park, you can count its history where social history and the performing arts mingle.

Retirement home founded by Constant Coquelin in 1906 for older actors. On Coquelin’s death in 1909, a museum was founded with the theme of the theatre of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. We visit the park, the tomb of Coquelin, admire the house of Artists built by the architect Binet in the Art Nouveau style, as well as a remarkable tree in the park of the former abbey of Pont-aux-Dames.
