Among the founding acts of the city are the construction of the City Hall. The architect Tony Garnier, winner of the Grand Prix of Rome in 1899, was entrusted with this major project. From its inauguration in 1934, the building was considered a masterpiece of architecture and inscribed in 1975 on the list of historical monuments.
