Visit of the restoration of the church of Saint-Philippe du Roule
Started in mid-2018, this major project was completed in June 2022. This operation allowed the complete restoration of the roof, the frames and the windows, as well as the cleaning of the coffered ceiling of the nave, the stained glass windows and the large organ.
The church of Saint-Philippe du Roule was built between 1769 and 1784 on the plans of the architect Jean-François Chalgrin. The last major restoration of the covers was after the Second World War. To stop the numerous infiltrations, an umbrella scaffolding was installed in 2013 to protect the building.
The proposed tour will allow you to tour the building from the attic and discover the restored structure as well as the roof. The visit will be commented by the person in charge of the operation and an organ builder will present the characteristics of the great organ of Saint-Philippe du Roule.
Free visit upon registration.
We advise you to wear a comfortable outfit and flat shoes. Being in good physical condition is also recommended.
