Visit of the chapel Saint-Anne in Saint-Eustache (1st) restored in 2021.
The Sainte-Anne chapel, located in the south of the ambulatory of Saint-Eustache, benefited in the nineteenth century from the great campaign of restoration conducted, following a fire in the church, by the architect of the halls Victor Baltard. On this occasion, from 1849 to 1855, the chapel was decorated with an ambitious painted decoration dedicated to the mother of the Virgin by the painter Hippolyte Lazerges. However, due to the numerous water infiltrations, these works had lost their readability and were in great danger. The restoration conducted by the City of Paris, part of a multi-year program, was completed in spring 2022. It is therefore at the origin of a true renaissance for these masterpieces of monumental painting, too little known.”
Two visits dedicated to this chapel are offered at 10am and 11am.
