Grange aux dîmes
Rue Saint-Jean 77160 Provins
- Seine-et-Marne
- Île-de-France
This former merchant house of the twelfth century is one of the most neat in Provins. Admire the refined architecture of the rooms with carved capitals and pointed vaults. This place served as a covered market during the fairs until the end of the thirteenth century, then as a warehouse for tithes from the fourteenth century. Today, this house presents a staging on the theme "Provins au temps des Foires de Champagne" with reconstitutions evoking the merchants and the guilds of trades of the time.
