Saint-Maur, garden city at the service of biodiversity
Since the middle of the 19th century and the development of the Park by the Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Est, the city of Saint-Maur has an original urbanism within the East of Paris with a large place left to parks and gardens. A concept developed by Auguste Marin who seeks to beautify the edges of Marne very early on, which multiplies squares and plantations of alignment trees. A heritage today protected by our PLU and highlighted by many actions of the service of Sustainable Development. A heritage perfectly highlighted by the exhibition Saint-Maur, garden city that we propose to rediscover at the Maison de la Nature. But preserving biodiversity is everyone’s business. This is why the Sustainable Development Department will also host workshops on soil life and the importance of birds and insects in the city.
