Scaleway, a European cloud provider, opens the doors of its Datacenter DC5 on 17 September, on the occasion of the 2022 European Heritage Days. It is a unique opportunity to discover a rare pearl of French sustainable heritage. Formerly a postal sorting centre, DC5 is now one of the most environmentally friendly datacentres in Europe.
Why are you joining us?
DC5 combines both industrial performance and energy efficiency, as its patented adiabatic cooling system makes it the most energy and water-efficient datacenter in Europe.
With only a few grams of water evaporated into the air, DC5 avoids the need for air conditioning, which accounts for 40% of the energy consumption of traditional datacentres, thus drastically reducing its environmental impact.
DC5 is also part of the circular economy, thanks to its workshop dedicated to the reuse of components. This is how Scaleway uses its servers for 10 years—versus 3-4 years for the rest of the industry—which also reduces the impact of its activity on the planet.
Located in the former postal sorting centre of Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône in the Val-d'Oise region of Paris, opened in 2018, the Scaleway DC5 Datacenter covers an area of 17,000 m2.
