Created as a counterpoint to the performance theatre and video Le temps est la rivière de David Gauchard, the series of images on display offers a stopover in Cherokee reserved land before treading the banks of the pond where the philosopher, American naturalist and poet Henry David Thoreau lived for more than two years. “Looking for Walden” is an excerpt from Dan Ramaën’s WALDEN photographic essay on a trip between Louisiana and Massachusetts in search of the philosopher’s mind.

This former Templar preceptory, built in part since the thirteenth century (chapel), was over the centuries transformed exclusively into a farm: in the nineteenth century the chapel becomes even hay barn! Restored at the end of the 20th century and in the 21st century, this high place of local heritage now exhibits contemporary art. The chapel has been listed as a Historical Monument since 1926.
