À propos du lieu

Château de la Celle Saint-Cloud
4 rue Pescatore 78170 La Celle-Saint-Cloud
  • Yvelines
  • Île-de-France
The supposed place of retreat of Clodoald, grandson of King Clovis, in the sixth century, would be at the origin of the domain of La Celle Saint-Cloud today owned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is one of the rare pleasure castles built in the eighteenth century in the Ile de France to be in a state close to the origin. Interesting also for its English garden designed by the brothers Denis and Eugène Bühler in 1871\. Finally, the interior design is an interesting testimony to the private decoration of the first half of the twentieth century. Auguste Dutreux donated it to the French State on February 7, 1951, for the exclusive use of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Since 1955, the estate has hosted official foreign guests, meetings of various kinds and international conferences. The castle is listed as a historical monument in 1978.
