The MAC VAL offers to exceptionally open the doors of its reserves!
Usually invisible and unknown to the public, the museums' reserves are their mysterious and hidden part.
It is in the walls of the reserves that the dynamic of the museum draws its sources and that the bulk of the work applied to the collection is carried out: study, research, inventory, registration, cataloguing, consultation, loan, restoration, maintenance, packaging, photography, preparation of exhibitions, etc.
The museum’s collection is regularly enriched by purchases, donations, deposits and counts nearly 2500 works, of which only a small part is presented in the exhibitions of the collection. The specificity of the MAC VAL is to store its entire collection in the building itself.

The MAC VAL is the first museum to be exclusively devoted to contemporary art in France. The artistic policy of the museum is precisely defined: contemporary art in France, and is exercised in a perspective of influence in order to propose the discovery of the art of our time to all audiences.
