The Bible, world heritage: a cultural exhibition at the Church of Encounter (Paris 10th).
The Bible, the enduring heritage of humanity, is transmitted through generations, places and cultures.
This rich exhibition designed by the French Biblical Alliance presents the various facets of the Bible from a cultural, historical, literary, and non-denominational point of view.
What is the genesis of the Bible, what major events caused the writing of texts, according to which literary processes? What geography and history of the worlds, eras and cultures were born into the Bible and helped shape it? What immense variety of cultures has it often contributed to shaping in the fields of thought, art and daily life? How has the history of its transmission been and is also at stake in conflicts of interpretation and authority? In this great book of encounters, among all these characters who embody humanity grappling with life and the great questions of existence, who is he who meets you and speaks to you? Translated into a multitude of languages, the Bible reflects a diversity of languages and cultural contexts. The visitor is invited to enter the richness of this movement from the origins. He discovers the methods and challenges of translation: to pass from one language to another is to pass from one world to another.
This exhibition is intended for all audiences and especially for the youngest (middle school students) with interactive stands.

The parish of La Rencontre was born from the merger of two old chapels in 1962, the Milton Chapel (9th) and the North Chapel, installed at 17 rue des Petits Hôtels by its founder Frédéric Monod.
These two chapels founded in the middle of the 19th century have a rich history of social commitment and free education.
The North Chapel was a member of the Union of Free Evangelical Reformed Churches. It became a member of the Reformed Church of France in 1939\. Frédéric Monod, Théodore Monod, Tommy Fallot, and Elie Gounelle worked together to develop the evangelization and social commitment of the North Chapel.
Milton Chapel (1867) was a parish dependent on the Holy Spirit Parish. Its history is linked to that of Protestant free education. It was truly born when the construction of the church and a complete school group made possible by the generosity of private individuals was completed in 1876\. Pastors such as Jules Pfender, Pierre Barbery and Henri Roser were posted to the Milton chapel.
