Creation for the public space
Connected to nature and the elements, «The Guardian» seems to watch over the world and give access to the interior forests of each one. To plunge into it is to open oneself to the hidden secrets, to intimate and collective metamorphoses, to primal energies; it is to connect the human to the invisible forces of Nature; it is to pay attention to the fragility of the living, its magnificence, the way it weaves and intertwines.
Born from Maxence Rey’s 2019 encounter with the sculpture «The Guardian» created by Lyon artist Mina, this new creation is inspired by this enigmatic, anthropomorphic, poetic and powerful sculptural figure. Maxence Rey gives it life, body, skin and movement, embodies it, incorporates it and makes it her own and becomes the “Guardian” who celebrates life.

À propos du lieu

Abbaye de Maubuisson
Avenue Richard-de-Tour 95310 Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône
  • Val-d'Oise
  • Île-de-France
Of this former Cistercian abbey of women (Notre-Dame-La-Royale), founded by Blanche de Castille, remain the barn (building with impressive volume) and part of the square claustral (chapter room, parlor, room of nuns and latrines). The abbey rooms are vaulted with warheads, decorated with stained-glass windows and glazed terracotta green and yellow. The 10-hectare park features archaeological remains and ancient water works. Since 2001, the medieval abbey of Maubuisson is dedicated to the visual and visual arts, connected with the architectural heritage. This redefinition of the abbey as a contemporary art site raises the question of the articulation between architectural heritage and artistic creation.
