Architectural decorative ceramics in Bondy (1880 - 1930)

At the end of the 19th century, ceramics finally made it possible to fulfill the wishes of many architects: to bring colour to our streets. Thanks to the industrialization of the means of production, enamelled bricks and sometimes very decorated roof trim are moulded in large numbers as well as facade ornaments. The raised panels, the tiles arranged in frieze and the rosettes decorate the walls with their vegetal or geometric motifs, arranged in various layouts. Making an inventory of the ceramic façade ornaments and returning them to the entire territory offers the city-dweller the pleasure of exploring its city and discovering its history.
Bondynesian and specialist in architectural ceramics, Françoise Mary has been touring the Séquano-Dionysian territory and its city for decades in search of its forgotten decorations.
