The town of Thomery, located south-east of Fontainebleau, between Seine and forest covers an area of 371 hectares. Today, the city is composed of three main districts: the city center (formerly called The Village), the district of the port (formerly called Collapsed) and the district of By, on the hillside (former Hamlet of By). The Middle Ages gave Thomery its port and the choir of its church; the Renaissance and the Grand Siècle the most beautiful houses on the Seine, to the rhythm of the evolutions of the Castle of Fontainebleau; then from the eighteenth century, The culture of the gilded chasselas in espalier along stone walls several meters high has profoundly transformed the landscape by giving it the unique aspect that makes it today its celebrity.
