Highly coveted by the belligerents, the site of the Boisselle island is certainly one of those where the lines were closest to each other. Twenty-two months of static warfare turned the place into a chaos that destroyed the farmyard that was there. The remains of this battlefield were preserved in their immediate post-war state.
