The Château de Chailvet, a private estate inhabited all year round, has been listed among the historical monuments of the Aisne since 1984.Testimony to the most innovative tastes of the time, its façade is today the only example of Renaissance architecture of Italian inspiration from the former Picardy region.
It has been, as well as the moat and garden that surround it fully restored over the past 35 years.
The visit of the gardens and the exterior of the castle allows to discover this jewel of the region.
This visit is part of a program of visits to Bourguignon-sous-Montbavin, Royaucourt-et-Chialvet and Chaillevois

The castle of Chailvet, private domain inhabited all year, is classified among the historical monuments of the Aisne since 1984.Testimony of the most innovative tastes of the time, its façade is today the only example of Renaissance architecture of Italian inspiration in the former Picardy region. This castle is the historic stronghold of the lords of the Vieuville, dukes and peers of France, very important family of the 16th and 17th centuries close to the king, which counted among its members both a superintendent of finances under Louis XIII and the famous Marie-Madeleine de la Vieuville, lover of the regent. An external visit is organized during the Heritage Days.
