In Belle-Époque, the village of Tracy-le-Mont is the capital of fine brushes. Its luxury brushes are exported worldwide. Daughter and grandson of brusheers offer you a trip to the country of brushes with a commented visit to the former Commelin-Brenier brush factory. They will make you discover the many facets of the profession of brush art, specific to our department.
For 40 years, the Association pour le Musée des Brosseries de l'Oise (AMBO) has been preserving and enhancing the heritage and memory of brushers (10,000 objects).
Guided tours (45 mn) only on reservation (19 visitors/visit).
Topics discussed: know-how, women’s work at home, paternalism (crèche, mutual, bursary, housing...), ties with Japan, the workers' cooperative, solidarity with the blind.
Presentation of the site with the model (old power station).
Presentation of collections in the museum workshop (bone toothbrushes, ivory whisker brushes, olive, ebony, lemon, silver head brushes...).
Exhibition: photographs, manufacturing techniques...
Presentation of the bone and wood dryer. The history of a heritage in danger restored (selection mission Stéphane Bern, label foundation of the heritage).
On site, two artists open their workshops: Marlaine, the ceramicist and Albane, the feutrière.
