Harmonia Sacra’s adventure began in 2002 when Yannick LEMAIRE, its artistic director, with the complicity of musicologist Fabien GUILLOUX, made the bold bet to create in Valenciennes a professional ensemble dedicated to baroque music. Harmonia Sacra mainly explores the sacred French and Italian vocal repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries and is passionate about the rediscovery of the musical heritage of Hainaut, a frontier land with a rich cultural past.
